The project is about the victims of the Brazilian floods that occurred in November 2008 and April 2009 in the south and the north-east of the country, respectively. More than 380,000 people were left homeless making it one of the biggest tragedies in recent Brazilian history. The victims are shown in two different moments: documents of their daily lives in the shelters in which they were still living, and portraits of where they used to live, showing what was left of their homes. A book named 'The Thickest Reality: Floods in Brazil' was produced as a result of my MA Photojournalism at University of Westminster, 2009. This series was also part of the exhibition 'Off The Page' at P3 Gallery, London, in September 2009.
